Seen as the second generation of mulch films, they present improvement in light diffusion due to their high reflection property. The reflection makes possible that the fruits or vegetables receive light also upwards, resulting in uniform growth and avoiding fungi development. Their low absorption reduces heat transmission for the soil, so it brings higher temperature control. One of their bigger advantages comparing to the black ones is the low material heat when exposed to the sun, which in many cases avoids the leaves burning and the possible fruit cooking. As the higher the the sun light reflection, higher the light intensity on the plant, what results in higher photosynthesis during the day, metabolism increase and higher fruit growth when compared to one that haven’t had the black and white mulch film technique applied.
